Rebranding an established education institution: A progressive repositioning and distinct identity reaffirms Vidyashilp Academy as a pioneer in education, while readying it for its expansion strategy.

Vidyashilp Academy, a Kindergarten to Grade 12 school founded in 1996 was amongst the first to introduce an alternative, experience-based education in Bangalore. It is amongst the top 3 schools in the city.

The education sector today is rapidly growing and highly competitive. With expanded affordability and a rising demand for better education, new schools are mushrooming. Increasingly, children aspire to be global citizens. To align with changing expectations as well as its growth strategy, Vidyashilp Academy needed to revisit its positioning and redesign its identity.

To align with changing expectations as well as its growth strategy, Vidyashilp Academy needed to revisit its positioning and redesign its identity.

The newly articulated mission of the school ‘Do Well and Do Good,’ echoed in the symbolism of the logo. The torch — the endeavour to ignite in students a confidence in their ability to do well wherever they go. The shield — enduring values that will stand the students in good stead, to do good and contribute to the societies they live in.

The name Vidyashilp, meaning ‘sculpting knowledge’, is vernacular, and not understood in the global context. The universality of the symbolism helps bridge the linguistic gap, enabling the branding to be globally relevant. The colours — navy blue and burgundy — adapted from the old identity, celebrate the heritage of the school.

Vidyasagar (meaning ‘sea of knowledge’), is the feeder playschool. The brand language, while drawing from the parent, is playful and whimsical. The mark opens itself to interpretation, drawing on the endless possibilities of a child’s imagination.
